The Story
A passionate young man, disillusioned with the world and its trappings, embarks on a journey of self-discovery that takes him to the far corners of the world…. Unwittingly, he finds himself on a spellbinding—and often challenging—journey with a spiritual Master, who propels him into a world of miraculous healing, other-worldly beings, ancient wisdom… and the experience of Enlightenment itself.
Throughout the ages, great Masters, mystics, and sages have walked the Earth, sharing ancient wisdom and teachings to enlighten humanity into a new way of being: to live in accordance with the universal laws that govern Creation, to live as unconditional love, and to experience true, lasting inner peace and joy. Many such beings changed the course of history, their legacies becoming the foundation for many of the world’s religions and spiritual beliefs, while others were persecuted because of the fear and ignorance of those around them.
A Great Awakening is the amazing true story of Zimmaron Zsido, a young man whose personal spiritual quest leads him on an extraordinary journey of self-discovery and into an unorthodox and intensive spiritual training program. His personal relationship with his Master exposed him to many of the inner workings of the Guru/disciple relationship, as well as the infinite tapestry of his Master’s omniscience and how it can safely guide ones into the deepest, darkest, recesses of their psyches and emerge victorious.
From the wilds of Mt. Kilimanjaro, to the Pyramids of Giza, the sun-burnt Australian Outback and the spice-laden bazaars of India, to the ancient ruins of Teotihuacan, the film follows Zimmaron’s personal pilgrimage all over the world, and documents the profound miracles and blessings he both experienced and witnessed in countless others. Interspersed with interviews, eyewitness accounts, reenactments, state-of-the-art special effects, and archival footage spanning over 10 years, this film is about the triumph of the human heart.
A Great Awakening illustrates humanity’s quest to discover its true spiritual heritage. Zimmaron’s journey is one of adventure, of love, of heart-ache and bliss. It covers his years in self-imposed exile from his Guru, his Initiate training, and his ultimate return. This film demystifies the guru-disciple relationship, redefines spirituality and shows that the heights of spirutality can be accessed by anyone while answering questions such as: why do people choose spirituality and gurus, what is enlightenment, and how does that apply to the modern world and lifestyle, while at the sametime offering a first-person perspective of the inner mysteries of training with a truely enlightened Master.

Notes From The Director

There are certain times in the life of a filmmaker where the risks in beginning a new project—with little money in the bank and a whole lot of trust—really pay off. Since this project began almost four months ago, I have been truly blessed in so many ways that it brings tears to my eyes.
When I started to work with Louix Dor Dempriey and some of His disciples, I was just a camera-guy-for-hire and had no idea who Louix was or what was in store for me. Since that first evening event at Open Secret Bookstore in San Francisco, I have been tossed into a tornado of love and blessings, struggles and heartaches, which just keeps turning faster and faster, building a momentum the likes of which I have never experienced in my entire life.
Now, as we are fully into pre-production, I am in awe and so excited to watch our vision unfold. This project is a dream come true, and I am really impressed with all of the hard work and dedication on the part of Zimmaron and the production staff. A huge thanks goes out to all of you who are working so hard to bring our vision to life! I could not do this without each and every one of you. You all mean so much to me!
This project is more than just a documentary. It is my life. At times, it is hard to tell where the film stops and my life begins. Surrendering to the momentum that we are building is one of the greatest things that has ever happened to me. I am so grateful for this opportunity.
Louix Dor Dempriey is a gift for everyone to enjoy. He has certainly changed my life, and I am so excited to think that our project will help people all over the world.
