Interview with Swami Kriyananda - 12 July 2008 - Nevada City, California
Zimmaron and Bill travelled East of Sacramento, to Ananda Village, to meet and interview the world-renown Swami Kriyananada (a direct disciple of Parmahansa Yogananada). After hearing stories and experiences from Swamiji, they were then taken on a tour of the community that he founded, and continues to direct, where they met students and residents who also shared their spiritual walk, philosophies, and their profound experiences of transformation.

From his youth, Ananda’s founder, Swami Kriyananda (J. Donald Walters) had dreamed of creating small communities based on cooperation and high ideals. When he became Paramahansa Yogananda’s disciple in 1948, he discovered that Yogananda, too, was committed to the concept of "World Brotherhood Colonies." Kriyananda vowed to do his utmost to make this dream a reality. In 1968 Kriyananda began the fulfillment of Yogananda’s vision with the establishment of Ananda Village, located near Nevada City, California.
Yogananda taught that what the world needs is a blend of the best qualities of the East and West: the spiritual insight of the East and the practical efficiency of the West. One without the other leads to a society barren of human fulfillment, but a balance of the two can bring peace, harmony, prosperity, and happiness. Yogananda often predicted that world brotherhood colonies, based on the twin principles of "plain living and high thinking," would be the social pattern for the future.

Seth Pincus
Seth Pincus grew up and currently lives in East Brunswick, NJ where he teaches guitar and didgeridoo. He is studying the Acutonics and Biosonics systems of healing with tuning forks, Hindustani vocal music, and Peruvian energetic healing with different teachers. He also utilizes Reiki, I.E.T., Crystals, Aromatherapy, and sacred Geometry for healing. His main focus in life right now is Spiritual ascention and composing/performing music.
Music has been the driving force of his life and his dedication has been steadily intensifying since he started playing guitar when he was 13 years. His main instruments are voice, guitar, didgeridoo, harmonica, and bow harp, but music plays him through anything and everything.
He creates the most diverse and eclectic blend of music imaginable ranging from modern classical to country, Heavy Metal to Pop, Interdimensional melectronic weirdness to folk music from every nation on the planet and everything in between. His ideas for composition also include all aspects of emerging technology and collaborations with all the fine arts. Another focus in his life right now is organizing and leading a didgeridoo lightforce to spread the ancient vibration and healing energy of this incredible instrument. His last musical passion is developing ideas for new instruments including many water and mouth instruments.

Michael Wild
Michael has a particular love for ambient, floating, etheric sounds and compositions in music.
He grew up in country areas of Australia and spent much of his time dreaming about the Cosmos and his place in the Universe. This led him to gravitate away from the pop music culture of the time (the 70’s), towards bands and musicians that were experimenting with electronic music. Here he found particular music that uplifted & inspired and took him on a relaxing, soulful journey. His keen interest in science & astronomy led him to study science at the University of Melbourne, after which he ventured into his own musical compositions.
In summary, Michael’s musical journey has been about expressing the magnificence of the Cosmos through ambient, subtle & relaxing compositions. For over 20 years the feedback about his music has centred around people journeying ‘beyond’ their own world and immediate life, or ‘within’ the deeper Universe of the Self. The stars, the galaxies, the infinity of space and subtle nature of the living world are represented warmly and lovingly in Michael’s music.

Atmospheric Adoration
Louix’s visit brought many marvels including some extraordinary weather. When His blessed feet touched down in Melbourne on February 17th 2007 the weather lords celebrated the event with an awesome electrical storm. It was late summer here in southern Tasmania, and we gathered on the deck, to experience the tremendous thunder claps, stunning lightening bolts, and hail stones the size of marbles. The drumming on the laser lite roof negated any conversation, and we remained in silent witness to a grand and unprecedented sound and light show. Mother Natures triumph lasted more than five hours and sparked bush fires in remote forests here, as if the devas themselves performed their own aarti ceremony for our Lord incarnate. The air felt blessed and charged, and the spectacular storm made news headlines.
Upon Louix’s arrival here at Prana Shakti the weather again provoked comment. The clouds closed in and the welcome drizzle was steady. Over several days the mist and rain encased Prana Shakti like a nurturing womb, and the outside world felt remote and irrelevant. Louix took some time in retreat, and wandered the quiet and shrouded garden in blessed solitude. He breakfasted on wild blackberries and worked His spell on us all.
By the third day of His visit the weather began to clear, and the autumn sun came through. At Disciple Training Louix spoke that he had prayed for a thunder storm, and behold, from a clear blue sky the heavens opened in answer to His prayer. There was sudden rain, thunder, then lightening, and our gathering sat awestruck in His Presence. The sky cleared again, having joined in our darshan, offering the elements of air, earth, fire, and water at the feet of our Master.
On Louix’s last full day here, He invited us all to meet for garden service, and the weather obliged us with a pleasant temperature and quiet cloudiness, conducive to a day outside. Thank You, Guruji.

Spirit Voyage
Spirit Voyage is a record label representing artists with pure authenticity and a deeply spiritual connection with their music. Their mission is to share with the world music that not only comes from exceptional talent, but also has pure intention and a deep and abiding connection to the spirit.
In 2000, at the dawn of the new millennium, GuruGanesha Singh, a life-long musician himself, decided he was ready to take his love of music to a larger venue; he felt that the merging of devotion, chanting, and music had a much bigger place in the world than it had been filling and he embarked upon a mission to make an impact.
While working with Snatam Kaur and Livtar Singh on a Peace Family album, GuruGanesha realized he wanted to do more than just make that album. He wanted to create a way for this music to get out to the world on a larger scale. That project became two albums, Reunion and To Heaven and Beyond, and with them, Spirit Voyage was born.
GuruGanesha’s garage was the first warehouse for Spirit Voyage. With the first launch of the Spirit Voyage website, sales began streaming in and the business soon outgrew his garage. At the same time, Spirit Voyage purchased the distribution company Cherdi Kala Music, and suddenly Spirit Voyage had a network of yoga centers around the world buying a much larger volume of products.
In 2003, Karan Khalsa joined Spirit Voyage to focus on growth and expansion, and over the next two years, the business doubled each year and she bought a majority stake in the business. In 2005, Hargobind became a partner in the business, initially coming in to focus on growth and expansion, but ultimately taking on the reigns of running the entire distribution business.
Today, there is a great team that runs Spirit Voyage, whose divisions consist of Spirit Voyage Music, the distribution business managed and run by Hargobind Singh, and Spirit Voyage Records, the record label managed and run by Karan.

A big welcome to Ali Nusrat + new Interviews!
Wow. So much has happened over the past month it is hard to know where to begin. First of all, I want to welcome Ali Nusrat to the team. He is our new cinematographer, and an amazing one at that. Check out his reel on our crew page. It is awesome. He has been a really wonderful addition, and we are so happy to have him on board.
We have been quite busy of late, and have met many famous masters, swamis, who have told us their stories about their own spiritual journey, and given us a very interesting insight into how the guru-disciple relationship plays out in other traditions.
